About

From a very early age I would be found climbing on the organ benches in my fatherʼs churches! An ongoing fascination with pianos led to my being allowed to play on neighboursʼ pianos, and one retired music teacher gave me my first violin, on which I began lessons at junior school. Finally, my parents relented, obtained a piano, and I began formal lessons at the age of 8. Once into my teens, and tall enough to reach the pedals on
the organ, I received lessons from the organist at the local church.

After leaving school I continued my music studies and achieved qualifications from the Southern Music Training Centre, London College of Music and Trinity College of Music. More recently I gained Post Graduate Certificate in Music Technology from Hertfordshire University.

Through working as a professional musician, I was frequently approached for music lessons. I found that I enjoyed teaching immensely, and discovered that I possess the ability to communicate and impart skills to my students. Thus my teaching practise quickly built up.

Along with my own teaching practise, I have also taught in music schools, and as a peripatetic piano/keyboard teacher in both private and state schools.

I began composing short pieces for my students, as a response to being unable to find the material I wanted to use. Students frequently asked for their favourite music and I arranged the music to suit their abilities and experience. From this my love of composing and arranging quickly blossomed and grew.

I am a member of The Incorporated Society of Musicians (ISM) and The European Piano Teachersʼ Association (EPTA).
